As the founder and Managing Director, yes that does make me feel old, but it also makes me feel incredibly proud.

A lot happened in 1992 when we first opened our doors, from my office in Croydon ( well kitchen table actually )...

... the Maastricht treaty was signed - founding the European Union, Euro Disney opened in Paris, Bill Clinton became the US President, the Queen celebrated her Ruby Jubilee, Prince Charles and Princess Diana divorced, Alan Shearer became the UK’s most expensive footballer, the Royal Mint introduced it’s new 10 pence piece and Jack Nicholson’s famous quote from A Few Good Men, “You can’t handle the truth!” became the catch phrase of the year!

When I started 26 years ago, I wanted to offer something different, realising that businesses, especially SMEs were not only finding finance complicated and confusing but they were forced to limit their options through lack of knowledge. I wanted to change that. I wanted to provide a full range of finance options, explained in plain English, with no jargon.

And so Capital Corporate Finance was founded. I was the first truly independent broker in the UK. I am very pleased to say I still hold that title, as well as now being the longest established independent broker too, being held in the highest regard throughout the industry. What’s more, I am one of the very few females in the business – in a male dominated industry this is one of the things I am most proud of.
